Here you can find information that will be useful during your stay at Damanhur. We would like to remind you that SMOKING IS NOT ALLOWED on any Damanhurian territory, indoors and even outdoors. If you need to smoke please do so outside the main gates.

Once you complete your guided visit, you are welcome to return to the central area of Damjl; however on Monday evenings, from 7pm onwards, this area is reserved for citizens. The Little Wood of Consciousness, dedicated to the Spirits of Nature and the Altars dedicated to the Elements are reserved exclusively for citizens’ use; please respect them and do not seek access to these places.

It is possible for you to meditate and enter into contact with the Four Elements in the designated areas marked by special colored sign-boards: in the 'Menhirs' area you can contact the Earth Element, near the Fountain the Water Element, in the Open Temple the Air Element, and in front of the Amphitheatre the Fire Element. We encourage you to walk the stone Circuits and the Spiral as long as you follow the instructions listed on the signboards at their entrances.

Please make sure to always wear your guest badge so that you will be recognized and receive the warmest welcome from all whom you encounter.

Answers:

Where do I go when I arrive?

If you arrive during business hours (9.00-13.00/15.00-18.00), at the entrance gate of Damjl, the central territory of Damanhur, you will be guided to the Welcome Office for registration. If you have booked a room and arranged for late arrival, you should proceed directly to the guest house indicated in your booking details.

 

Should I schedule my arrival for a specific time?

Yes. We advise you to arrive at least 30 minutes prior to the program you have chosen. If you come from far away, we advise you to arrive one day early (before 18.00). Check-in for Damanhur guest houses takes place in the Welcome Office (9.00-13.00/15.00-18.00). If you plan to arrive at a different time, please arrange this with the Welcome Office prior to arrival.

 

Is there taxi-service from the airport/station?

The Welcome Office can help you organize transportation to/from the airport or train, but it does not offer a direct taxi service.

 

Are meals and accommodations included in the price of the visits?

Given the many choices regarding both eating and lodging, the cost is not included in the price of the program unless specifically stated. Click here for more information about available accommodations.

 

How much does it cost to eat at Damanhur?

At DamanhurCrea there is an organic restaurant, a café and an organic grocery store. The price of the meal depends on what you order, but to give you an idea of the prices in the restaurant; a lunch here would cost approximately. 15 Euro.

 

Are there restaurants in Damanhur?

Somachandra Café is situated in Damjl, at the end of the Olami Office terrace. Open daily for breakfast, lunch and early evening, closed Monday afternoons.

Tentaty, an organic food store, is located at the DamanhurCrea, in Vidracco. Open daily, closed Monday afternoons.

Arielvo Café, bar and restaurant, is situated at the DamanhurCrea, in Vidracco. Open daily for lunch, dinner on occassion, closed on Monday from 6.30pm.

AgriCacioteca Prima Stalla is an organic, agritourism territory located in a Damanhurian nucleo community about twenty minutes’ drive from the central area, Damjl. Open for lunch and dinner by prior booking. Telephone: +39 328-6489398

There are additional restaurants nearby. Upon your arrival, ask at the Welcome Office for a list of options.

 

Instead of staying in a guest house, can you book me into a nearby hotel?

The Welcome Office would be happy to handle your booking with one of our partner hotels.

 

Do your guest houses offer rooms with an on-suite bath?

Our guest houses have shared bathrooms. If you have other preferences the Welcome Office will help you book a reservation in a nearby hotel.

 

May I stay in a nucleo community during my visit?

When visiting Damanhur, you are first invited to stay in one of our guest houses. If you have other needs or wishes for subsequent visits, you may contact the Welcome Office.

 

Will I be able to meet and speak with Damanhurian citizens?

Every Thursday at 19.30 in the Conference Center of DamanhurCrea, there is an open meeting with the Falco (Oberto Airaudi), the main founder of Damanhur. After the meeting, you are welcome to visit the nucleo community of Damjl to spend time with the citizens who live there. For larger groups, dinner with a nucleo community can be arranged. contact the Welcome Office for details.

 

Can I stay in Damanhur for a longer period of time?

Damanhur has guided visits of 2, 3 or 7 days. If you wish to extend your visit in order to take additional courses or participate in other programs, please contact the Welcome Office.

 

Do you offer work exchange?

Damanhur does not have many opportunities for work exhange, but during the summer season there is the possibility for a specific W.W.O.F work exchange program in organic agriculture (minimum 1 week, maximum 1 month) or you can participate in the New Life program as a temporary citizen. How do I get to the Arts and Research Center DamanhurCrea if I don’t have a car?

Near the exit of Damjl, the central territory, there is a sign post indicating the need for a Synchronic Ride. As there are many cars going back and forth between the two main areas, it is quite easy to find one. It would take about 30 minutes to walk, but given the road conditions, we do not advise that you walk.

 

Can I use a washing machine or is there a laundry service nearby?

In some of the guest houses, you can arrange with the care taker to use the washing machine. The nearest automatic or traditional laundry service is in Castellamonte (5 km from the central area).

 

Is there WiFi connection available or a computer?

Yes. In Damjl, the central territory of Damanhur, near the café Somachandra, there is WiFi-signal available. There is a guest computer in reception (segreteria) near the entrance gate. When you arrive, ask at the Welcome Office for information about their use.

 

Where is the nearest pharmacy?

There is a pharmacy in Vistrorio, 4 km from Damjl, the central territory.

 

Do you have chargers that are compatible with my telephone? Or adapters for American plugs? Etc.

Given the many different systems that are in use, we advise you to bring all necessary chargers and adapters.

 

Do you have a map of “Damanhurian places”?

There is a map on the wall in the reception (segreteria).

 

What kind of healings or wellness treatments do you offer? How much do they cost?

There are various possibilities for wellness services in DamanhurCrea: Fisiocrea, Kythera, and the Health House, all located downstairs. Ask for more information and prices directly from the various studios.
